1985 PRS Royal Blue Custom 24 Serial #5 02XX

Real-deal PRS History — this wonderfully faded Royal Blue ’85 Custom with Moons is one of the first 300 guitars Paul Reed Smith produced.

Recently acquired, this had been a one-owner guitar purchased showroom new in 1985. Entirely original, she’s seen almost no playtime in the two-and-a-half decades since and remains in “like-new” condition. Cosmetically, there’s not a ding, dent or mark on her, and the hardware is still factory clean.

Originally a deep Royal Blue with black back, she has undergone a classic early PRS fade, revealing the beautiful mahogany grain of the back, neck and even headstock. This deep fade is beloved by many a PRS collector for its unique and distinctive look.

The Brazilian fretboard is inlaid with tastefully ornate Moons, and you couldn’t find a cleaner example of the original “S” tuners with their telltale “Made in W Germany” stamp. Early Stamped T&B pickups and factory sweet switch are, of course, the cherries on top. Serial Number 5 02XX.
