1985 Vintage Yellow PRS Custom 24 Serial #5 00XX
A tantalizing taste of PRS history. This pristine ’85 with Moons is absolutely all original — pickups, knobs, wiring, electronics, tuners — we’re talking strictly time machine stuff here. The solder joints could not be more virgin or untouched.
Some of the very earliest PRSi have the 7 and 8 pickups instead of the stamped T&B’s. Legend has it the factory stamping tools would wear out the T and B letters sometimes, so they would substitute the 7 and 8 numbers from the same tool instead. Here we have a 7 matched with a B. The 7 and 8′s are absolutely identical to the T&B’s in terms of sound and materials used.
One of only 400 ’85′s produced, this jaw-dropper is one of the first forty guitars to leave Paul’s workshop in 1985. The Vintage Yellow flame maple top is wonderfully aged and the Moons are some of the finest and most ornate you’ll see. Safe to say, this beauty encompasses everything that makes the earliest PRSi so highly sought after. Serial Number 5 00XX.
